I'd saved these after Mens Fall Fashion Week & came across them while cleaning some files from my computer. I thought it only fair to post Menswear, since I continue to bombard you fair readers with female focused fashion. So please enjoy there's more ahead.

paris fashion week favorites - Yves Saint Laurent

with the death of Yves Saint Laurent this past summer, all eyes have been on Stefano Pilati, to see how he would honor his memory and his aesthetic. the collection honored YSL, while also taking into account the times we live in, it was austere yet feminine, elegant yet flirtatious, and all around stunning.

OMFG IT'S FASHION WEEK

A LOT is about to happen so i'll try to keep this short and just post more later since there isn't too much to cover yet. though i must admit i'm already excited about the buzz and i'm not even in NY. maybe because ANTM premieres tonight, or maybe it's just because i truly have a passion for fashion, but these are a few things i'm pretty jazzed about:

  • Chris Benz's Spring 09 Collection- it's inspired by JOHN ADAMS!...ok well kind of, but i just read this little article that said:
His Spring 2009 collection looks back at the history and meaning of
American sportswear, taking pre-Revolutionary style as its jumping-off point. 'Yeah, I watched ‘John Adams.’ But only because my friend Mamie Gummer is in it. What’s interesting to me, beyond the details of period dress, is the attitude that underlies it—that specifically American attitude of OK, it’s time to loosen up. We’re going to do this our own way.'

i'm excited to see how he makes these ideas come to fruition, because i think his ideas are exciting and silly, but his clothes aren't necessarily my style. below is one of his revolutionary era inspired sketches.

  • while i'm 1000% sure that whatever Alexander Wang has come up with is intriguing and will be very feminine but totally influenced by street style. But how girly will he go for spring? Based on the new line of shoes he's started desiginging (pictured below,) I'm thinking his shit is going to be fierce.

  • Balenciaga will be incredibly constructed, bold, and imaginative. How will Nicholas Ghesquiere blow my mind now?

  • Jil Sander will have incredibly clean lines, fun colors and a finish that's somewhere between sterile and austere in the most elegant expression of those words.

  • Proenza Schouler's ability to bring a touch of sweetness into everything they do, makes me giddy for their spring collection, to the point where i know i'll want to start wearing outfits inspired by them now!

  • And last but not certainly not least what are Cushnie et Ochs (pictured below) going to roll out for their big debut, which apparently has an "American Psycho" theme !?! this female design duo is being heralded as the next Proenza Schouler, so i'm very, very excited to see what they have come up with on the runway, and on their blog.
