maybe just possibly, one of the greatest band you'll ever see live
The Benevento Russo Duo! I saw these amazingly talented gentelmen play on New Year's Eve at The Culture Room 3 years ago and felt compelled to post them.

Mouth was my favorite song off of their second album, Razorblade Suitcase, but the remix (which was featured in an An American Werewolf in Paris- hence the weird/whack vid) was more rockin/radio friendly. Oddly though it's the only vid who's embedding codes weren't disabled, so you'll have to click on the links to actually listen/watch the other songs.

photo envy
Last week I posted a few photos I loved by Hedi Slimane, and this weekend I found several more. Hedi actually photographed a really intriguing feature for Dazed and Confused's January issue about British Teenagers. The feature, coupled with my love of "Skins" just made me want to post more of Hedi's work.

Deadweight
All this Danny Boyle love I've been sharing made me think of "A Life Less Ordinary" but mainly the soundtrack and the Beck song Deadweight. Sadly the embedding request has been disabled but you can still check out this totally genius vid directed by Michel Gondry!

a legend lost
Legendary actress, singer and dancer Earth Kitt died yesterday, and surely will be pissed. This inconoclast was born in a cotton field and eventually made it to Hollywood where she played CatWoman on the 1960's Television version of Batman. The woman will surely be missed but thankfully her art lives on.

"You got to have a dream. if you don't have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"
"Your arms are calling out, they wave like a swarm of sound...you step the stage and take control, control, control..."
I've had this song stuck in my head since I saw The Faint in October and it's been worse than ever lately because "Control, control, control, control..." keeps thumping through my noggin. Thankfully it's a sick song.

A Christmas Eve Blackout
So the powere went out throughout the neighborhood for about 4 hours. Thankfully it was on in time to watch "A Christmas Story"

The Bees Knees & the Cat's Pajamas
The Bees Knees is a new feature on things I just find utterly delightful and fantastic. The saying bees knees for instance is exactly one of those things, since it just seems to preposterous to be true but something I would love to witness, just like the Cat's Pajamas, because really who wouldn't want to see a Cat's Pajamas. And for the inaugural post a video clip.
Happy Hanukkah everybody!
Though Hannukah started on Sunday bnight and we're half way through the Festival of Lights, I'd be remiss not to mention it and give a shout out to Judah Maccabee, considering growing up in Miami, 98% of my friends were Jewish which made me Jewish by association. Plus it's so much funikah to celebrate Channukah!
While looking for the perfect picture of a Menorah to post I came across all these great ones I had to share.

Hot Meat @ "Milk"
Though I was tempted to put some hot meat in my mouth while watching "Milk," I thought it would detract my focus from the film.

"...if you catch me at the border I got visas in my name..."
Though I wasn't even a zygote during The Last Great War, I hearken the sonic bombardment of having to listen to Paper Planes over and over again in the Pineapple Express trailer, to having to listen to the luftwaffe attempt to dominate Europe. Strong words I know, but the song was just overplayed. Though "Slumdog Millionare" totally redeemed it for me and features the original and the even more stellar M.I.A. - Paper Planes (DFA Remix) .
While on the subject of Ms. Arulpragasam here are a few mnore sick tracks from "Kala."

The Science of Sexy
If you are unaware of who this lovely creature is, enligthen yourself immediately! Dita Von Teese is a pinup star, model actress and burlesque dancer, and can basically be compared to the modern day Bettie Page. Dita has an exquisite fashion sense, which I have featured below.

"Hey shut the fuck up boy, you are starting to piss me off..."
The Swedish kick continues!I just happened to find this song by Peter, Bjorn and John out of nowhere, but it's mildly addictive. And I also want to thank Sarah Odio for informing me about the Swedish Lunar Lander and House Building Mission...it's as if she were encouraging me to move to Sweden and eventually the moon!
