I've given Phoenix a few props in the past, but am going all out when it comes to their latest album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix because it's positively wonderful! It's just a beautiful, fun upbeat album that just makes you want to dance and feel happy. My brother sent me the "Lisztomania Brat Pack Mashup" that got really got my feet a rockin' so I decided to give the whole album a shot and I think it may be go to record for the summer. Bat for Lashes has been racking up the critical acclaim for a few years now and has been compared to the likes of Björk and Imogen Heap, but I think I may fall for this woman (real name Natasha Khan,) like I fell for Lykke Li. I caught her on the "Late Show with David Letterman" with David Letterman a few weeks ago, and have had "Daniel" stuck in my head since.

Jack White & Loretta Lynn need to make more music together

Rock God and constant collaborator, Jack White produced and played on Loretta's 2004 album "Van Lear Rose," which won a whole bunch of Grammy's, critical acclaim & was Loretta's most successful crossover album. I highly recommend it if you like Jack White, but if you're mildly familiar with Loretta or just know her as a "coal miner's daughter" buy this album immediately and immerse yourself in the glory of southern rock and roll.

Short Shout Outs

I've been meaning to do this for a while, but just didn't get around to it.

My first short shout out is to Elton John, who's music I keep hearing whether it's on every oldies station, the supermarket and a myriad of TV shows and movies. Elton actually turned 63 yesterday so I want to also take the chance to wish him a Happy Birthday and thank him for ALL of his amazing tunes, I even have "Don't Shoot Me I'm just the Piano Player" album cover in my office and it's the only one that's not actually a film or stage soundtrack.

Someone Saved My Life Tonight

My 2nd shout out is to Jimmi Simpson, a shockingly gifted character actor that plays creepy, and smug with such ease and hilarity he always makes an impression.

If you watch The Late Show with David Letterman you may have seen him as "Lyle The Intern,(pictured above)" where he goes toe-to-toe with Dave and generally steals the segment. He recently also appeared in the season finale of "Psych" and as a priest with serious issues on "House."
