The Dark Knight descends on DVD

I went to the store to get cold medication & pick up a movie & there was a slew of people out apparently waiting for it to be midnight so they could pick up a copy of "The Dark Knight"...crazy

"Batman Begins" is on...

& its a completely different film than "The Dark Knight." its incredibly well done and fantastically executed, but "The Dark Knight" is by far one of the greatest films I've ever seen, while this is just a great film.

Hmm I wonder what Cillian Murphy, who played Dr. Crane aka The Scarecrow is up to? 3 years ago I thought he'd be bigger than James MacAvoy & I certainly haven't seen him in much.

Snoogins reviews The Dark Knight

And now Snoogins reviews The Dark Knight because I'm too obsessed to:

Although shockingly "dark" for a children's comic book story (and an added darkness from Ledger's death), The Dark Knight portrays the parallels between good and evil. The majority of the movie is comprised with evil domination, but a tiny little scene, when 2 boats are given the opportunity to blow the other up and live or do nothing and die together, brings a sudden twist towards the good side, and it is recognized that goodness prevails yet again. For most, this film is thought to be gloomy or "too much," but for me, it is the essence of what creates good in society, it is realistic and gives an accurate portrayal of how goodness is actually achieved. Super heros are supposed to do no wrong, they are supposed to save, and everything associated with them is to reflect goodness; however, this film challenges the norm and creates a Batman who is not afraid to be perceived as evil to ultimately accomplish good.

trailer trash "The Watchmen" (movies I'm excited about and hope they don't suck...)

So this post is (hopefully) the first of many in a series i have entitled "movies i'm excited about and hope they don't suck." time and time again we have all sat down to watch something hoping it would be entertaining, interesting but more than anything, good. that's how i felt about "Wanted," granted it wasn't terribly but it wasn't amazing.

"The Watchmen" hugely popular comic book series is coming to the big screen! though i'm only mildy familiar with the source material, i'm well aware of how important and revolutionary the comic was. this movie is going to be so big (for the nerd & special effects community) that massive amounts of press coverage is being shared now and the movie doens't come out until March 2009. my interest in the film arose becasuse of my utter and complete infatuation with Matthew Goode - who also happens to be in another movie i'm really excited to see this summer, "The Brideshead Revisted" that's based on an incredible book.

anyway "The Watchmen" has an incredibly talented (and attractive) cast plus it's directed by Zack Snyder who also did "300." MTV has an interview and trailer for the movie which can be seen here, while Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look as well, and you can either see the 1st trailer before "The Dark Knight" which opens today or you can check it out right here. i'm pretty sure (well i'm hoping at least) this movie may be the coolest thing since sliced bread, but i guess i'll found out for certain in march.

UPDATE: i've opted to call this series "Trailer Trash"

the grove on a thursday night...

it never gets old sadly. if it did i would have been in bed 7 hours ago. didn't make it to the GEN ART screening of "August," but whatev Josh Hartnett will suck me into something else he's in soon enough and i am not ashamed to admit it. random but relevant tangent- "the black dahlia" sucked, i couldn't get through it and I ADORE Aaron Eckhart (i made my mom rent "In The Company of Men" for me when i was home sick with the flu for 2 weeks in middle school and have loved him ever since.) everyone keeps talking about the brilliance that is Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in "The Dark Knight." i adored, respected and admired Heath since "10 Things I Hate About You," because not only did he help to reinterpret a great Shakesperean play, but he gave an entertaining and believable performance in a "teen movie." but it legitimately shocks me that no one is talking about Aaron Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent/ Two Face. Anyone who is a fan of the comic of the film series knows that in "Batman Forever" Tommy Lee Jones played the same role. i understand the media's obsessive and even more relentless "relationship/fascination" with an unbelievably talented artist that died well before anyone wanted him too, and that we'll never fully comprehend what he was going through. but i hope people also take the opportunity to respect The Dark Knight as a whole and not just focus on one man's performance, because film is a collaborative art and heath, christian, aaron, maggie, morgan, michael, gary, christopher and the entire crew are responsible for this oeuvre and let's not forget that.

anyhoo i hope that mr. eckhart gives a stellar and exciting performance and acts his pants off (literally and seriously. i know this is a dark movie but i want to see something hot.)
