trailer trash- RocknRolla

last night while listening to the Oxygen Network (i passed out with TV on)there was a commercial for the Broadcast Premiere of "Phantom of the Opera." excited is not the word i would use to describe how i felt during my semi-conscious state about this information, but knew i would get sucked into watching part of it because i adore Gerard Butler. when Phantom was released in theathers, i saw it with my brother and Aasbo, and it was pretty painful to sit through...really painful. anyone who has seen this movie knows WTF i'm talking about because it's on a level of ridiculousness that only Joel Schumacher could achieve (Batman & Robin anyone!) seeing that trailer and thinking about "300" today lead me to wonder what Gerard was up to next (i've been a fan of his since Dracula 2000, but refused to sit through P.S I Love You.)

it turns out Gerard's next film is Guy Ritchie's highly anticipated RocknRolla. the only trailer i've been able to find can be seen here. RocknRolla also stars the gorgeous Thandie Newton, Jeremy Piven, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Tom Wilkinson and the awesome and incredible Idris Elba (a.k.a Stringer Bell from "The Wire," a.k.a the greatest show that's ever been on TV.) according to imdb the plot is: In London, a stolen painting pits some of the city's scrappiest tough guys (Butler, Elba) against its more established underworld players (Wilkinson). hopefully this movie won't suck like "Phantom" did, though to be honest i'm not too crazy about this trailer. it makes the movie look like a "Layer Cake" "Smokin Aces" mash up. it opens on October 31 (spooooooooooooky.)

trailer trash "The Watchmen" (movies I'm excited about and hope they don't suck...)

So this post is (hopefully) the first of many in a series i have entitled "movies i'm excited about and hope they don't suck." time and time again we have all sat down to watch something hoping it would be entertaining, interesting but more than anything, good. that's how i felt about "Wanted," granted it wasn't terribly but it wasn't amazing.

"The Watchmen" hugely popular comic book series is coming to the big screen! though i'm only mildy familiar with the source material, i'm well aware of how important and revolutionary the comic was. this movie is going to be so big (for the nerd & special effects community) that massive amounts of press coverage is being shared now and the movie doens't come out until March 2009. my interest in the film arose becasuse of my utter and complete infatuation with Matthew Goode - who also happens to be in another movie i'm really excited to see this summer, "The Brideshead Revisted" that's based on an incredible book.

anyway "The Watchmen" has an incredibly talented (and attractive) cast plus it's directed by Zack Snyder who also did "300." MTV has an interview and trailer for the movie which can be seen here, while Entertainment Weekly has an exclusive first look as well, and you can either see the 1st trailer before "The Dark Knight" which opens today or you can check it out right here. i'm pretty sure (well i'm hoping at least) this movie may be the coolest thing since sliced bread, but i guess i'll found out for certain in march.
UPDATE: i've opted to call this series "Trailer Trash"
