Friday the Fun-teenth!

Yes my title is incredibly cheesy, but I thought some levity was necessary when shouting out the multi-talented and totally ridiculous, Panic Bomber after taking a gander at the flyer for his show this Friday, November 13th at The Vagabond. So hopefully I'll see you freaks and fans there!

Hear ye hear ye!

ANR plays tonight for a good cause, it's a free event but all donations will be going to be art supplies for inner city kids since the budgets were completely slashed. They'll be playing form 8-10 with "The State Of." & then the party continues/charity event officially starts at The Vagabond where Junc Ops will dazzle us with their brilliance, along with the likes of Afrobeta and other great local acts.

yo to the yo

Happy Thursday people, and what better way to wind down the week then to share another awesome party opportunity with you fine people. Miami's own Panic Bomber will be playing The Vagabond on Friday, May 15th with the one, the only Van*Gloria. It should be a delightful night of amazing music so check it out if you have the chance.

Panic Bomber's blitzkrieg at The Vagabond

I have proclaimed my adoration for the madness that is Panic Bomber before, but I now have pics and the experience of a super sick live set at The Vagabond to back me up. Everyone who was there had a fantastic time and Richard put on a bangin set, he should be incredibly proud of. If you're in Miami, you can check him out again on the 21st at the Nightdrive Party, otherwise I'll try and post the video of his set as soon as it's available.

I'm in love with Panic Bomber

Panic Bomber is the new solo project from local Miami musician Richard Haig and it's fucking awesome! I went to the Sweat Records Stocking Stuffer party and ran into Pat Walsh (check out his weekly party NightDrive by the by,) who asked me if I'd heard Richard's album yet, which I had not. Coincidentally I had run into Rich during Art Basel at the ANR, The Jean Marie and Rachel Goodrich show, and he told me he was working on something new and going by the name of "Panic Bomber," which immediately intrigued me, since Richard is a rather intriguing person, & what better to get the people riled up than the mention of something terrorism related.
So when Pat played the "Calling in Threats Demo" for me, I was shocked, entertained and instantly obsessed. As Panic Bomber Richard's found a way to combine a myriad of electronic formats together to create, fun, dark and mildly hilarious yet incredibly good dance music. Off the Radar Music posted a little feature about him, which is rad because he deserves as many shout outs as possible. You can download the whole album "Calling In Threats" for free on his website or listen to 3 of the tracks on myspace, which happens to include the song I simply can't get enough of "Until Our Legs Break," (while "Smooth Sailor" is really growing on me as well.)
You can see Richard as Panic Bomber in seizure inducing action live at The Vagabond (30 NE 14th Street) Friday, January 9th,2009 at 11 pm (& hopefully he'll play Nightdrive on the 1/21/09 too.) So check him out he's going to blow up, figuratively and maybe just literally.

The Borscht Film Festival

Saturday night I had girls night out with my number 1 troublemaker's Alexi and Whitney, who met me at Sweat Records for their Stocking Stuffer event, which was pretty fantastic. While there I came across a flyer for the Borscht Film Festival and later at The Vagabond I coincidentally ran into 2 lovely gentlmen, Nick Ducassi and Lucas Levya, who were promoting the festival. I figured the least I could do was give these guys a shout out and mention this potentially sick event which will be happening at the Tower Theater December 27 and 28th:

The 2008 Borscht Project was to commission 19 Miami artists from all artistic disciplines to collaborate in the creation of 17 short films, each inspired by a different Miami neighborhood. Together, they make “CCCV,” a defining feature film of the Miami New Wave. They range from drama and comedy to experimental documentaries, musicals, science fiction, silent films, and animations. The neighborhoods explored are: Kendall, Liberty City, Hialeah, Coral Gables, Little Haiti, Coconut Grove, La Habana, South Beach, Downtown, Little Havana, Wynwood,South Miami, Homestead, Krome, 8th street, and Key Biscayne. The film will premiere at the 2008 Borscht Film Festival, December 26th, 2008 at 8:00PM at the
Tower Theater.
I've got plenty of family related holiday shenanigans to partake in, so hopefully I'll be able to check it out and if you have the time/chance you should too.

Herpes and Love Affair

so Hercules and Love Affair did a DJ set at The Vagabond and it was pretty meh, like most DJ sets are. the staff of the bar were in togas and wore laurels (my secret favorite fashion accessory,) and for some reason there was a Drag Queen.

and "The New Times" photographer was there and took a bunch of pictures you can see here.

and here is Hercules & Love Affair's "Blind"

and "Hercules's Theme"
