trailer trash - An Education

After basking in the beauty of France throughout Chéri and figuring out plans to head across the pond in a couple of weeks, the trailer for An Education makes me giddy. This film was a fan favorite at Sudance and I'm hoping it's as good as it looks.

If you are unaware of who this lovely creature is, enligthen yourself immediately! Dita Von Teese is a pinup star, model actress and burlesque dancer, and can basically be compared to the modern day Bettie Page. Dita has an exquisite fashion sense, which I have featured below.

Dita Von Teese is committed to total glamour at all times and I fully respect her for it. Check out her Wonderbra commercial which is preposterous yet splendid.

A Sunday Wedding

So I went to a wedding in New York a few weeks back and my mom finally remembered that she took a handful of pictures at the reception. They're basically only of my brother, his girlfriend and me but I still wanted to share because I thought they were pretty darn cute, sadly there isn't a great picture of the vintage lace, strapless dress I wore (I was going for an homage to late 50's early 60's glamour a la Betty Draper), but will make sure to get one the the next time I wear it.

I can't stop making this face and wish I could but for some reason I always think it's hilarious in mind...clearly it's just awkward/ugly

a legend lost

50's Pinup girl and Model Bettie Page died yesterday at the age of 85 in Los Angeles. Growing up I was aware of her as an icon in fashion, film and fringe history, due to her unique look and undeniable presence. But I didn't truly know who she was until watching the fantastic film about the early part of her life "The Notorious Bettie Page ." The New York Times does the factual aspects of her life better justice than I ever could, and WOMEN Model Management's blog has a great post of model Mina Cvetkovic as "Betty Page" but wanted to mention this charismatic and enigmatic woman now that she's gone.

I'm not exactly sure of how you're supposed to keep track of the days of the year with these half naked women staring back at you, but I had to share considering how gorgeous and silly this is.
