The Championships, Wimbledon 2009 - Grand Slam Tennis - Official Site by IBM

It turns out that defending champion Rafael Nadal has to pull out because of a knee injury, which leaves the field wide open. Most automatically suspect that Roger Federer will win the tourney for the 5th time, but I'm hoping Andy Murray does. The tournment starts Monday, June 22nd, 2009!

Sweet Jesus people it was just a movie, HE'S NOT A REAL VAMPIRE HE'S A FRICKEN PERSON GIVE THE DUDE SOME SPACE.

I apologize for the caps, but this is just ridiculous, I feel terrible for this guy. Though I do like how the writer shared that she too has been enamored enough to follow only 1 celebrity, but didn't approach them. As someone who has also followed [for no more than 15 seconds- I'm not a psycho] only 3 legitimate celebrities, I adore - Liev Schrieber (what a shock,) Zach Braff (right after Garden State came out outside of Monty Python's Spamalot) & David Frankel (have you seen the 2 eps of Band of Brothers he directed?) I never actually approached them, I just want to have them be in my orbit for all of 5 seconds.

trailer trash - Bored to Death

This edition of trailer trash is a little different because for the first time I'm featuring a Television show and not a movie. Bored to Death is a new HBO original comedy starring the brilliant and adorable, Jason Schwartzman. More importantly ZACH GALIFIANAKIS IS ALSO ON THE SHOW! While Entertainment Weekly thinks it may be the hipster version of 'Castle,' I don't care I can't wait til September!

Mens Fall Fashion Week Favorites - Band of Outsiders

I've posted about Band of Outsiders' Women's line Boy in the past, as well as their excellent collaborations, so I had to share their Menswear which is equally as appealing and also congratulate them on winning a CFDA award for Menswear Designer of the year.

Revolutionary Road Review

So I finally saw Revolutionary Road, the other night which may not have been the best call considering I was pretty distraught over finally admitting I was heartbroken over losing 2 close friends [they're not dead, but no longer in my life] but it was a well executed, yet dire look at a relationship between a miserable marreid couple, named Frank and April Wheeler (excellently played by Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio ) in 1950's New York. It was basically THE most depressing episode of Mad Men ever without any emotional payoff aside from great performances. The film starts off with a knock down drag out shouting match, which is incredibly intense, and then the film only gets darker. While there are faint glimmers of hope and the potential for things to get better for April and Frank Wheeler more fighting is inevitable and is reminiscent of the scenes in Closer where the couples lay it all out. Watching April and Frank shout at each other reminded me of a few arguments I had with an ex, which is probably why I found myself laughing aloud when April finally tells him:
"But I don't [love you.] I hate you. You were just some boy who made me laugh at a party once, and now I loathe the sight of you. In fact, if you come any closer, if you touch me or anything, I think I'll scream."
All in all Rev Road in my opinion is one of the best romantic dramedies I've ever seen, but that's because I coudln't help but laugh at the fact that these people hated each other, yet were together, plus Michael Shannon - who was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar -was hilariously brilliant as a neighbors mentally ill, but brutally honest son was a revelation. Sam Mendes' direction was flawless and has helmed a stark, realistic tome, but all I can say is if you do decide to sit through this, brace yourself it's pretty rough, but hey so is life.

My rating: 8.8/10

Proenza Schouler oh how I love thee...

I had a wonderful night out with Alexi after a spectacular happy hour in with Whitney & Amanda tonight. I am so incredibly grateful to know these beautiful, hilarious, genuine, brilliant, kind, smelly women.

While basking in the afterglow of contentment I came across an e-mail from Womens Wear Daily about Proenza Schouler's 1st show outside the US. I'll totally post more later but had to share the 1 picture I came across, as well as the caption:

"FLORENCE — For their first show outside the U.S., Proenza Schouler's Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez said "basta" to runways and traditional formats. Instead, the duo asked three contemporary artists to..."

Because the single image excited me. It was just full of so much potential based on the setting (Florence...swoon) & the layout alone. Considering they juist won a CFDA award for Best Accessories Designer & are 1 of THE most innovative, elegant, original & young names in American fashion, I'm always excited to see what they do (primarily creatively) & where they go next.

"Morning"

Hadn't I once a youth that was lovely, heroic, fabulous, something to write down on pages of gold? - I was too lucky! Through what crime, by what fault did I deserve my present weakness? You who imagine that animals sob with sorrow, that the sick despair, that the dead have bad dreams, try now to relate my fall and my sleep. I can explain myself no better than the beggar wth his endless Aves and Pater Nosters. I no longer know how to talk!

And yet, today, I think I have finished this account of my Hell. And it was Hell; the old one, whose gates were opened by the Son of Man.

From the same desert, toward the same dark sky, my tired eyes forever open on the silver star, forever; but the three wise men never stir, the Kings of life, the heart, the soul, the mind. When will we go, over mountains and shores, to hail the birth of new labor, new wisdom, the flight of tyrants and demons, the end of superstition, - to be the first to adore! - Christmas on earth!

The song of the heavens, the marching of nations! We are slaves, let us not curse life!

Matin

trailer trash - The Hurt Locker

This movie looks absolutely incredible, and is the only film to come out that focuses on what's happening in the war in Iraq right now. If this movie (which opens tomorrow) plays in my area I'm definitely going to check it out. I have a deep fascination with the armed services and after catching Generation Kill last summer I'm ready for more. Thankfully the reviews are stellar [TIME stated it's a "near perfect war film"] so hopefully that will garner it some attention and people will go see it.
