that are adapted for film or TV, and done well, like "
Iron Man," "
The Dark Knight" and "

but more importantly "
Heroes" is back and better than ever. i've been a HUGE fan of the show since episode 1, and truly love and respect the international phenomenon Tim Kring has been able to create, that's not only thrilling and exciting, but incredibly relatable. the show is about people with extraordinary abilities in a modern day society, who are all interconnected. some use their powers for good and some use their powers for evil, while others are just trying to get rid of them. the cast of characters span the planet and are monitored by an organization called "The Company," who actions are sometimes good and often nefarious, but work with people with abilities to stop the world from ending.
if you even kind of like "X-Men" the show is reminiscent of that in the smallest regard, but needs to be scene to be fully understood. to be honest i was beyond excited for the show's premiere, but couldn't remember all the minutiae from last season, due in part to the writer's strike, so i kinda had no idea what was going on with some characters, and felt really disconnected from what was happening on screen. though last monday night's episode was fantastic and had an epic explosion ( i'm talking "
24" kind of huge.)
episodes of the show, along with more bonus features than you ever thought imaginable, is available to view on
NBC.com/Heroes, and i recommend at least checking them out, rather than attempting to dive into the show all at once, though it is really great. each season of the show is technically a "Chapter" within a larger graphic novel inspired format. season 3/"Chapter 3" is entitled "Villains" so there's a lot of naughtiness going down from highly entertaining evil-doers. but the best part about all of this is the casting choices the show has made since there are so many different bad guys, that not so coincidentally played villains on the previous shows they were on, like David Anders (who played Sark on "Alias") and Jamie Hector (who played Marlo Stanfield on "The Wire.") anyway, if you're not a super geek, this show is still totally accesible and worth checking out.
