fashion week favorites - Halston

the first time i ever heard of Halston i was 14 and obsessed with the 70's. i was so fascinated by the era that i went and saw "54," bought the double-disc soundtrack and wished time machines existed so i could dance all night with bianca jagger, andy warhol, truman capote and "the most beautiful man i'd ever seen who would just spin around on his peg leg" according to Tom Ford. Halston just evoked a kind of sexy yet relaxed glamour that was undeniable.

imagine my delight 2 years ago when i heard that "Halston" was once again being resurrected, one of the backers would be Harvey Weinstein and Rachel Zoe woud be consulting. unfortunately things did not work out so great again for Halston, Zoe left/was ousted, their head designer was fired, and there was no real brand identity within the industry let alone the retail market. to drum up some noise and rack up some sales, Harvey dropped a LOT of cash to show the collection at the Museum of Modern Art, and sadly it looks like it may of been a waste. while the collection is very beautiful, it's not terrible exciting. and while i'll always have a special place in my heart for Halston, the clothes for the Spring 2009 collection look like something i wanted to wear when i was 14 and i'm pretty sure i did.

i had a plum tube top from Rampage that was reminicent of this top

... and a cream top from Express that looked just like this

... and i wore something like this to prom my freshman year of high school
