The Dead Weather

The Dead Weather is another band from Rock and Roll God, Jack White, who also writes, produces and plays in one of my favorite bands in the universe, The White Stripes, and another band I like very, very, very much The Raconteurs. The band is under Jack's own Third Man Records Label, and will be releasing their first album in June. What I'm most excited about is that Alison Mosshart, the singer of the unbelievably awesome and cool band The Kills (who put on one of the best performances at Lollaplooza last year) is also in The Dead Weather. Pitchfork has a great article worth checking out and I've posted their 2 singles below. Now please enjoy

I'm waiting for a gentleman to dedicate this song to me....

While I've been in love with Mos Def since I scuffed one of his kicks outside The White Stripes show at the Hammerstein Ballroom back in 2003, his album "The New Danger" is one of my favorites. And surprising been pretty integral in a number of my relationships over the years. I actually flew up to Baltimore to see Mos in concert for a first date, & I somehow managed to end up with a brand new copy from a different ex well after that relationship was over. While those relationships soured, my musical/artistic respect for Mos certainly has not and I still think "The Beggar" is quite possibly one of his best love songs & I'll admit I'm still waiting for him someone to dedicate it to me. Til then I'll just keep dating Jon Hamm.

please take a moment to Rock the F out to The Strokes

Back in 2001 when garage rock was all the rage and almost every cool band had a "The" in front of their name, aside from The White Stripes, the one band that had the biggest impact on me musically and emotionally had to be The Strokes. They are by far still one of the coolest bands in Rock and Roll, & undeniably are in another class of cool, sonically and lyrically they've never done me wrong, I absolutely love them and can't wait for their next album, whenever it comes out. Ladies and germs please take a moment to Rock the F out to The Strokes.

LEGO turns 30!

i absolutely loved LEGOs growing up and i kinda wish i could still play with or utilise them in a functional way in my life now. apparently Opening Ceremony, a really innovative clothing store, and the fashion line Band of Outsiders have teamed up to do and celebrate LEGO's birthday. Opening Ceremony has not only redesigned the inside of their LA store to fully incorporate LEGO in to the presentation of the merchandise, but Band of Outsiders has LEGO men modeling their clothes too. you can check out the site they created here, though i've posted some of my favorite LEGO related pics below.
