omg anna wintour actually wears something more than once!

so anna wintour, editrix of VOGUE, really loves Prada (there was a book and a movie supposedly based on her Devil-ish Love for the the designer,) but apparently she really loves Oscar de la Renta. so much so she's worn the same dress out to 2 different events in the past 2 weeks. which isn't too shocking since that's what normal people do, but this woman is heralded as the end all and be all of fashion and it's great to know she can't help but wear something she loves as often as possible. anna is "the most powerful woman at the most powerful magazine in fashion," in an idustry that thrives on consumerism it's just intriguing to see her photographed in the same thing in such a short time period.L: In Oscar de la Renta Resort 2009 with Vera Wang, Tommy Hilfiger's Engagement Party; New York, June 9.
R: Sex and the City Premiere After Party; New York, May 27.

we're in a recession and even the fashion industry is feeling it. but that's not stopping anyone from creating beautiful and luxurious pieces of art that are often quantified as "price upon request." and one fashion house who isn't afraid of an economic decline and has started their wares online is Balenciaga.

anyone who knows me knows my obsession with fashion, and one of my favorite designers right now that i can't wait to wear when "i grow up" is l Nicholas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga or "the master of us all." i love them not just for their creation of THE most beautiful gladiator heel in existence and their use of the gorgeous and elegant jennifer connoly in their ad campaign (which can both be seen to the left.) but for the innovation and unconventionally phenomenal wares they create. which can be seen in their new resort collection. which just happens to be too damn cool as always. so here's a look at the Balenciaga Resort 2009 line.

basically resort lines are for people with too much damn money, because women are supposed to be wearing these outfits in the tropical location they go to during the winter months on holiday or cruises. how absurd, yet how chic.

I'M THE WORST BLOGGER EVER

I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SORRY TO THE 3.4 PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY READ THIS THING. I SOLEMLY SWEAR MY MID YEAR'S RESOLUTION IS TO KEEP AT THIS. IF LILY ALLEN CAN DO IT WHY CAN'T I?!?

ok enough with the shouting i apologise i'm a proper prat. now to something wonderfully delightly musically delicious...a track featuring the goddess divine Santi White otherwise known as SANTOGOLD, the sexiest brown motherf#$%er on the planet (sorry blair underwood/usher & abdul) but none other than Pharrell ( oh yeah + Chad so technically N.E.R.D) and the man the myth the talented and not disgusting/not a junkie American version of pete doherty Julian Casablancas. check it out here of all places! another reason why they are one of the coolest footwear providers in the universe.

on a totally different note I'VE BEEN PUBLISHED! it's an honor and a pleasure to be featured on this fine young ladie's blog. i hope to bestow her the same opportunity quite soon.

this isn't too surprising to be perfectly honest...

the link below details the rest of what supposedly happened. to be be honest this isn't too surprising considering mr. mayer's proclivity for all around silliness that is just full of homo erotocism can be seen here, here and here. That general disposition coupled with massive amounts of alcohol on New Year's Eve and Jessica Simpson's stupidity, he probably just got shitfaced and couldn't tell the difference between each buxom blonde.
but i have no problem admitting i'm kinda jealous of perez. JM is looking pretty fine these days and the fact that i can't stop listening to his duet, "a lesson learned," with Alicia Keys on her new album has kept him in moderate musical rotation.

i suffer from wanderlust

for those of you not in the know who don't know what wanderlust is (though it's pretty self-explicit):
wan·der·lust –noun
a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about.

well the goddess that is Bjork has finally released her video for the song with that title (it only took like 9 months, over $130,000 & the invention of new cinematic technology.) enjoy this amazing work of art that was shot in 3-D (AWESOME) here. you can also find the interview/behind the scenes/backstory with Bjork herself.

people that steal from john mayer and pass it off as their own are lame

so i never got around to posting that maroon 5 video but i eventually will seeing as that they are about to go on tour with the counting crows (yeah they're still around) i'll have plenty of time to get to them later.

while at Langerado (there are a few pics posted on my Facebook account) i was enjoying the awesomeness of the music, the hippies, but more importantly the benevento-russo duo when i felt compelled to contact an ex -not the one you're thinking of and who shall just be referred to as "He who shall not be named" or "Voldemort" (based on our past experience, the fact that he's not worth talking about my name bc he'll only get off on it & the fact they bare an eery resemblance to each other in certain aspects) until JK Rowling asks me not to.
So i sent voldemort a text on saturday evening that read: "hope you're doing well just wanted to say hello...hello." Considering he had called me thursday evening before i went to the festival, to talk about god knows what, because i was distracted with packing and was barely paying attention, but still responding and being cordial, i thought my attempt at communication was kind, thoughtful and obviously well intentioned. Though my text was promptly replied to with: "Please stop contacting me."
The remainder of the text-ersation need not be shared since it basically involved me informing voldemort he was more full of shit than i remember & that once he came to his senses he'd realize i was a fantastic friend to have, which was truly his loss.
What bothers me the most is not his hypocrisy, he's obviously a waste of space & clearly not right in the head, but what irked me is that i'm about 99.999999999% sure he was compelled to be so rude by basically stealing directly from John Mayer...Yes John Mayer. I know this may seem like I'm the crazy one, but voldemort is a HUGE fan of John Mayer to the point where he reads his blog and listens to his music religiously and if he had the opportunity to make out with him he would. This may just be coincidence but the day between voldemort called me and I sent him that text Mr. Mayer posted this. The post no longer exists on JM's blog but I had to share my findings with the world, vent and just say: how fucking lame. Granted I could be wrong and I'm the lame one for coming to this conclusion, but repeatedly calling & contacting someone, then telling them to stop contacting you in almost the same breath, is just callow, but we already knew that's exactly who voldemort is.

DISCLAIMER: I heart John Mayer and respect him as an artist not for whoever he decides to put his dick in.

Amy Winehouse - Love is a Losing Game

happy new year?

the only reason i put the question mark was because i wondered if it was still reasonable to say that. i think weeks in it's still ok and definitely more exciting to hear on february 14th than "happy valentines day." for those of you actually interested why people go bonkers on a day like today here's a little history on Saint Valentine. (though by the time i probably share this little blog on facebook it will be boxing day and it will almost be relevant.)
maybe i've been listening to too much amy winehouse and maroon 5 (and yes i am aware how highly commercial both are) i highly recommend taking a minute to sit down and actually read or truly listen to their lyrics. both artists have an incredibly grasp of truly capturing what its like on a universal to be in a relationship. granted most of us aren't beehived jewish girls from a rough part of london, but i think we can all relate to the honesty and desperation that exists in amy winehouses lyrics, while adam levine expresses the dirty, obsessive and fun things being in love is truly about. so once again i share with you videos from artists i truly love, respect, and would love to have a drink with:

tis the season!

greetings and salutations to all! tis the season for santa, channukah and great movies. i actually saw no country for old men last night and it was incredible. a real potboiler, taught with suspense and the only soundtrack was the sound of the characters intensity throughout every scene in the film. the coen brothers are brilliant as we all know, fargo and the big lebowski are perfect examples of their proficiency as film makers, but javier bardem is electrifyingly creepy and brilliant as a psychopathic hitman named Chigurh (yes it sounds like sugar.) and josh brolin blows you away with his mostly silent performance as the stories protagonist. anyone who has seen "the fugitive" or "batman forever" knows tommy lee jones can act and this film is certainly another great definitive moment in his ever evolving career as an actor. did you know he was roommates with al gore at harvard? in short see this movie, it's fantastic, which is why it's been nominated for a golden globe for best drama.

while we're on the subject of great achievements in art my latest obsession is the Goyard St. Louis Tote. if you look under women's articles you can catch a glimpse of this super chic and multi use bag that i saw everywhere during art basel and at the pulse art fair. Goyard is a leather goods maker that's been around since 1853 and are finally making their mark on the mainstream. their luggage and bags used to only be available to royalty and the biggest celebrities, but the the tote can be yours for only $845...ye i know that's beyond ridiculous for something made of canvas, but sure is beautiful and comes in 10 different colors. the bags are exclusively sold at Barneys and two other locations in NY and LA aside from Goyard's flagship store in Paris, and no they cannot be ordered online.

on a completely different note, google is launching a publishing format called Knol that is supposed to rival wikipedia. learn more here.

have a happy holiday and wait with bated breath for my next post and what santa brings you!

i also just found a green version of the bag:

The Go-Green Goyard St. Louis Shopper Tote
Goyard special green edition canvas purse is designed from 100% recycled natural material without plastic or petroleum. You can find it at your local Barneys, where it retails for $1,095. Also, since Barney’s no longer sells Goyard designer handbags online, visit Goyard.com to get a list of department stores that sell them in your area.

Remember with the monogramming you have to tack on an additional $310. Personally I could resist the recycle symbol, it makes the bag look like a cheap $5 grocery sack, and just go with my initials.

its been a while...

to whoever reads this i apologize for my absence. i'm pretty sure you could have read the bible in the duration of it. personally i prefer the Tanakh or as i endearingly refer to it as The Jewble. anyhoo i'm sorry for taking october and basically most of november off.
so i just saw this headline online and now the today show has a story about this girl whose body was just found. it's just a really sad/disturbing yet relevant story for the digital communities we live in. http://www6.comcast.net/news/articles/general/2007/11/28/Missing.Porn.Star/?cvqh=itn_student

on a much lighter note here's a great times article on one of the art fair's happening next week in town:
