When worlds collide: Liev Schreiber and Franz Ferdinand

Last night the undeniably talented Liev Schreiber and the fantastically delightful Franz Ferdinand were on The Late Show with David Letterman. Check out the clips below, but I doubt anyone on the planet was as excited about this pairing as I was.

please take a moment to Rock the F out to - Franz Ferdinand's Tonight

I've been meaning to post about Franz Ferdinand's latest album "Tonight" since it came out at the end of January, but haven't had the chance because words couldn't really express how much I absolutely love this album. It was exactly what I needed, & didn't even realize it. Track after track, is full of jaunty dance rhythms that only improve on their 2 previous albums, and prove that they're more than just an iPod/Madden sensation (though coincidentally enough "No You Girls" is featured in the latest iPod Touch commercials.)
Franz's first album was such a triumph and not only because Take Me Out blew up and made the band an international sensation, but thanks to great songs like "This Fire" and continuously sick licks. So when their 2nd album came out I was mildly disappointed and can't really recall ever fully appreciating it, aside from "Do You Want To." Though with "Tonight" they're back in top form and get your hips shaking from the moment it starts with "Ulysses." I posted the original version of Lucid Dreams when it was first available, but the album version is a rather different and really extended version with a sick breakdown. So I've included the entire album in order, plus a few of my favorite tracks from their first album.

Coachella Roundup

I hope you guys had a great weekend. I had quite possibly one the best of my life last weekend at Coachella and Swamp Stomp was pretty fantastic too this past weekend. I don't think I'll ever be able tofully summarize how wonderful it was, but I'll try to post as much as I can. If you ever have the chance to go to Coachella Music Festival, I highly recommend it, and you will not regret a moment. I'll probably spend the next few days posting and wrapping up the weekend, since there's waaaaaay too much for one post, & I've been too busy catching up on work and worried about the bacon flu epidemic so brace yourselves.

holy crap is that snow?

Coachella - Set Times

The Coachella - Set Times are up & I already have a number of conflicting shows on the Friday, the day I'm most excited for.

Franz Ferdinand and Crystal Castles are playing at the exact the same time, White Lies (my new favorite band) start playing 15 minutes after The Ting Tings (who I missed at Ultra,) while Leonard Cohen's set overlaps with Ghostland Observatory. I guess I'll have to go to All Points West Festival to catch them, The Ting Tings & Crystal Castles, since I'm probably going to stay for all of FF & LC's sets.

Hoping to make it in time to catch Liars, but will am just hoping to make it to the venue for Paolo Nutini.

By Day 3 I'll probably have festival dimentia so I haven't really looked at the set times (or at Saturday's too thouroughly) but the game plan is be there for Lykke Li or bust, since she's THE act I (& probably thousands of others) are most pumped to see. Hopefully I'll be able to catch Friendly Fires too, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be better than they were 3 years ago, but I'm saving myself for a beautiful young woman from Sweden, PB & J and The Kills.

please take a moment to Rock the F out to - Arctic Monkeys

I love the Arctic Monkeys so much they're the main reason I want to go to All Points West. I've included practically every song from both their albums, because they're just so damn good, you won't be able to get enough. I can't wait to see what influence the brilliant (and insanely hot) Josh Homme has on their soon to be released 3rd album, Humbug. The last time I was this excited for an album release it was for this little band called Franz Ferdinand.
