This song has been stuck in my head since The Grammy's
I've been on a pretty serious Led Zep listening fest of late and am kind of glad to add this and the whole album to my rotation. It's nice to hear Robert Plant "sing in straight lines and not all that twirly stuff."

More of my favorite Grammy moments
T-Pain on the red carpet, being as fantastic as always.
Bono opening the show.
Coldplay on the red carpet in the outfits they "blatantly stole and recycled from Sgt. Pepper..."
While Dave Grohl is one of the best frontmen in Rock & Roll I love it when he plays the drums.
I've been praising Adele and her talent for some time now, so I'm sooooooooo happy she got the credit she deserves and won Best New Artist.
Here's Sugarland's performance followed by Adele with Chasing Pavements

The Grammy's were basically the best Rock Assembly ever...

Back when I was at boarding school each term one assembly was fully dedicated to student performance and called Rock Assembly, which is what I always kinda thought The Grammy's were, but with more famous people and more cleavage. Year after year I've tuned in for the performances, but this year I actually cared about the awards, because I was hoping Radiohead or M.I.A would win, and they both kinda did in their own respects, "In Rainbows" won the award for Best Alternative Album, and "Swagger Like Us" which was inspired by M.I.A's Paper Planes won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Though of course those awards weren't broadcast because the show would have been 8 hours long, you can check out all the winners here, if you actually want to know who won what.
I don't know if you caught the broadcast but here are a few of my favorite performances.
First and foremost Radiohead doing 15 Step with the USC Band was epic, fun and proved Thom Yorke is quite possibly the dopest MOFO on the planet because he's always willing to push the boundaries and create amazing music as well as phenomenal live performances. Plus Gwenyth introduced them, so that was pretty dope (as was her outfit.)
Possibly the coolest performance of the night and definitely the winner for best showmanship and of course swagger.
Coldplay and Jay-Z
I'm still on the fence about this song/performance but hopefully the new album will rock once it comes out March 2nd

"It's 4 AM and I can't sleep..."
This song has been stuck in my head for about a week now and I finally decided to post it. hopefully the other one (you really don't want to know what it is) will disappear soon enough, but for the time being maybe "memories fade in the coldest winter"

Viva La Vida Oprah
Definitely an intriguiing, entertaining and awkardly danceable endeavor
While on the subject of Coldplay I thought I'd take the opportunity to show off their bright and shiny Grammy's poster (I featured Thom Yorke's a while back.) I already know each band's performance is going to be pretty stellar since they're both Rock Gods in their own right.

I'll be flipping back and forth between that and "Big Love" to check out the live performances and to see if M.I.A's water breaks on stage, since she's 9 months pregnant and due to give birth the day of the show. Hopefully her water will break and Sir Paul McCartney will deliver the baby back stage then she'll go on to win Record of the Year and perform Paper Planes with Jay-Z and whoever else turns up.

The Grammy's just got watchable...

I've always thought The Grammy's as the ultimate yet mildly boring music assembly, that you may or may not have been subjected to sit through in school. But this year for the first time ever Radiohead will be playing at The Grammys. Granted I'll most likely DVR the ceremony and watch the performances later, this is incredibly cool and kind of unprecedented for Thom, Ed, Johnny, Phil and Colin. So I hope people tune in Fenruary,8th, 2009 to see them, and those were gonna watch anyway, finally realize they're the best band on the planet.
