please take a moment to Rock the F out to - Iggy & The Stooges

I woke up this morning with Iggy Pop's "I wanna be your dog" [posted below] stuck in my head, which meant I was ready to rock the instant I got up. I think it was due to the fact I've been thinking about Iggy for the past week since he's on the cover of The Miami New Times this week and gives a positively fantastic interview and shares his feelings on the state of rock and roll.

A few summer's ago I was at Gardener's Market in South Miami picking up lunch when I spotted a gentleman that looked a lot like Mr. Pop. I went to the hardware store next door to get a key copied, and as I fidgeted in line I said aloud "OMG that was Iggy Pop what the fudge are you still doing here." As I rushed back to Gardener's he was checking out as I walked in, I was so overwhelmed and busy wondering what the King of Punk was was doing in The 305, let alone in my favorite haunt that I didn't know what to say to him as I approached him. Coincidentally I was wearing a Stooges t-shirt that day [I was taking a History of Rock course during the summer along with an actual requirement,] and he pointed right at my chest and said "Hey that's me!" I chatted him up after that and will never get over how cool he was, or the fact that he was wearing a a suit vest as a top, a pair of shorts that most likely were pants at some point and a single flip flop. Now ladies and germs enjoy...

please take a moment to Chill the F out to - Bat for Lashes

Bat for Lashes has been racking up the critical acclaim for a few years now and has been compared to the likes of Björk and Imogen Heap, but I think I may fall for this woman (real name Natasha Khan,) like I fell for Lykke Li. I caught her on the "Late Show with David Letterman" with David Letterman a few weeks ago, and have had "Daniel" stuck in my head since.

"if you were here, would you calm me down or settle the score..."

This song has been stuck in my head and has kind of been playing like clockwork the moment I wake up, almost every few days for about 3 weeks now. I guess I can no longer deny that the ghost of "The Ghost Of You Lingers," really does linger.

"I can't stand you, I just love you..."

I woke up this morning and this was the first thing that came to mind musically was Mos Def's "Bedstuy Parade & Funeral March." The lyrics pretty much summed up how I was feeling, I just hope I don't turn into a sweet gangsta woman pretty killa woman...unless I end up like this lovely couple or this bad ass one.

"I just can't get you out of my head, your loving is all I think about..."

I didn't feel the need to be to vague when quoting the lyrics of this incredibly hot song, since it's true right now. I've been crazy about it since it came out and actually love when it's stuck in my head, accompanied by the the thought of a particular gentleman, which just so happened to overwhelm me out of nowhere today.

"boy you give me butterfingers..."

This vid, is silly, entertaining, beautiful and creepy all at the same time, but one thing's for certain this song is undoubtedly one that can get stuck in your head...

"Anywhere I go I don't behave, got so many clothes I'm on my way..."

I blatantly stole this from Nick's blog, but am willing to own up to it, because "I know" I can't take credit.

"don't stand there watching me, follow me. show me what you can do..."

this song has been stuck in my head since Christmas, mainly because my brother would sing the chorus over and over and over again...no doubt about it this shit is catchy

please take a moment to Chill the F out to - Lykke Li

I had a moderate obsession with Lykke Li last summer after a friend told me to check out "Little Bit" (which you may have heard in the background of the Victoria's Secret Holiday commercials.) After listening to that song on loop for almost an hour I checked out her other stuff, which was pretty fantastic as well, but decided to keep her to myself. I thought my minor infatuation was over and done with til Carson Daly devoted Wednesday night's entire show to this lovely songbird from Sweden. Now I her music is stuck in my head all over again and this time I had to share.

This song has been stuck in my head since The Grammy's

I've been on a pretty serious Led Zep listening fest of late and am kind of glad to add this and the whole album to my rotation. It's nice to hear Robert Plant "sing in straight lines and not all that twirly stuff."

"I want to be rich and I want lots of money, I don’t care about clever I don’t care about funny..."

I caved and bought the new Lily Allen album "It's Not Me, It's You" and it's a great combo of breezy pseudo dance music and Brit pop. This post was originally titled "I don’t know what’s right and what’s real anymore, I don’t know how I’m meant to feel anymore..." which is the chorus for "The Fear" the 1st single of the album, but the opening lines of the song were just too damn ridiculous to not put up. Check out the song (and ok vid) below.

"It's 4 AM and I can't sleep..."

This song has been stuck in my head for about a week now and I finally decided to post it. hopefully the other one (you really don't want to know what it is) will disappear soon enough, but for the time being maybe "memories fade in the coldest winter"

oh and here's Yeezy's Grammy's poster

"At first when I see you cry, it makes me smile, yeah it makes me smile..."

I (not so) secretly love this song and Miss Allen for it. & yes I must admit I do agree with the chorus of every once in a while, but about no one in particular at the moment. Coincidentally enough Lily also has no one to sing about, at the moment, but apparently guys are much nicer when they break up with her because they're afraid she'll put it in a song. If she needs any material I've got plenty, I once had a guy end things and then he texted me non-stop and then asked me to "stop contacting him," so she can use that if she wants, though I think Coldplay summed it all up in the chorus of "Twisted Logic." Anyhoozie, here's a lovely little ditty called "Smile."

Please take a moment to rock the F out to Bush

Mouth was my favorite song off of their second album, Razorblade Suitcase, but the remix (which was featured in an An American Werewolf in Paris- hence the weird/whack vid) was more rockin/radio friendly. Oddly though it's the only vid who's embedding codes weren't disabled, so you'll have to click on the links to actually listen/watch the other songs.

"Your arms are calling out, they wave like a swarm of sound...you step the stage and take control, control, control..."

I've had this song stuck in my head since I saw The Faint in October and it's been worse than ever lately because "Control, control, control, control..." keeps thumping through my noggin. Thankfully it's a sick song.
