synecdoche, new york is the new
charlie kaufman movie, starring
philip seymour hoffman, catherine keener, michelle williams, hope davis and is mr. kaufman's directorial debut. it's apparently super meta, because there's a play within the movie, and the people in the play are actually actors playing real people who in turn are involved with the play and people in hoffman's characters life, because the play about his life but the play becomes his life, and there's no audience...
or something like that.
Owen Glieberman, one of the critics i most agree with/respect, of Entertainment Weekly
gave it a D+ and said:
I gave up making heads or tails of Synecdoche, New York, but I did get one
message: The compulsion to stand outside of one's life and observe it to this
degree isn't the mechanism of art — it's the structure of psychosis.
anyway, here's the trailer i'll probably check this out on video...or not at all.
