I know that I previously mentioned that summer Mondays would belong to NPH, but Liev was featured in this month's "My Favorite Place," which makes up the backpage [& is generally my favorite part] of Travel & Leisure. Considering The Delacorte is one of my favorite places in New York, (& the location of where I forever sealed my love, appreciation and respect for Liev) I had to share.

Transformers:Revenge of The Fallen Review

I saw this movie opening day and already barely remember the plot. The only thing that matters is that there are more robots in disguise than you ever thought imaginable (which is really cool) & get used to seeing Megan Fox because this chick is official. Nobody does big stupid explosions better than Michael Bay, and Shia is as adorable as ever in this movie, but in all honesty, at this point the movie's made enough money so don't even bother and wait til it's on HBO everyday next summer.
My rating: 8/10 (& I'm being kind.)

Exclusive Clip: Zooey Deschanel Not Interested in Being Your Girlfriend, in "500 Days of Summer"
I've mentioned 500 Days of Summer on more than 1 occassion in the past and am about to again, now that there's an exclusive clip from the movie available at New York Magazine online.
"In theaters July 17 is 500 Days of Summer, a love story (sort of) starring
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a greeting-card copywriter retracing the steps of his
failed relationship with Summer, played by Zooey Deschanel. Fox Searchlight has
given us this exclusive clip, in which Deschanel explains that she's not
interested in having a boyfriend, to the disappointment of Gordon-Levitt and the
befuddlement of Geoffrey Arend (real-life fiancé of Mad Men's Christina
Hendricks). "[Exclusive Clip: Zooey Deschanel Not Interested in Being Your Girlfriend, in 500 Days of Summer -- Vulture -- Entertainment & Culture Blog -- New York Magazine]

"off off, off with your head...dance dance dance til your dead..."
"Heads will roll, heads will roll, heads will roll on the floor!"
The lines mentioned in the title alone have always been my philosophy when it came to dance, I'm glad Karen, Nick & Brian could vocalize it for me. Have a great weekend everybody!

"Terminator: Salvation" Review

I went into this movie not expecting much, save a hale of explosions, a really intense performance from Bale and for Common to do something that would not allow me to take him seriously. Well I got all that and much, much more.
The film begins in the year 2003 as we meet Sam Worthington's character, Marcus Wright, who is on Death Row & agrees to donate his body to science right before he is executed. It turns out, the whole movie is really about his character and asks the question where does humanity lie, they just also happened to throw in some guy named John Connor and a whole mess of explosions to tie it all together. Since this movie is really about the hero's journey, albeit a formerly murderous hero, Marcus Wright is the main character of the movie and they kill him in the first 2 minutes. The movie than jumps to 2018, machines and humans are still at war and Judgement Day has already come to pass.
While director McG does a fantastic job of placing you immediately within the action with a helicopter crash from Christian Bale's point of view in the pilot's seat, making you feel as dizzy as John Conner in the desolate abyss that has become America, the movie then takes a while to become cohesive and is very disconnected for about the first 20 minutes.
All in all the movie is utterly preposterous, but entertaining enough, it's the 4th movie (& there are potentially 2 more on the way) of an action franchise that's been around for over 2 decades, so if you don't know what you're walking into, it's your own fault. Anton Yelchin who plays Kyle Reese (who will grow up to be John Connor's dad...yeah don't ask,) Moon Bloodgood & Sam Worthington really make this movie worth while (aside from the explosions) but if you're indifferent about it, just go see Star Trek.
My rating: 8.3/10
Hotness rating of the cast: 9.8/10 (Namely Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin, Moon Bloodgood & Christian Bale in that order)

Summer Movie List
With Memorial Day upon us, summmer is officially here adn my second favorite time of the year for movies. While Summer generally pales in comparison to the oscar bait the Winter provides, in terms of caliber and quality of films, I still love to watch shit blow up and that's what summer is all about. With Wolverine and Star Trek out of the way the field is wide open for me to waste a bunch of money/be thoroughly entertained. I figured if I wrote out what flicks were coming out in advance it would save me some time, money and also give you guys an idea of what's coming out when too (you can check out trailers by clicking on the titles.)
Terminator:Salvation While I’ve been a fan of Christian Bale for over a decade, Anton Yelchin is the high school boyfriend I always wanted and have been drooling over Sam Worthington for a number of weeks now, the 'Common factor' (the fact that the every movie the rapper is in turns out shitty) was 1 of my major drawbacks and not that McG has duped me 1 time too many into loving the craptastic masterpieces he helms (Fastlane and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle anyone?) But I decided a few days ago my appreciation of ridiculous explosions and hot guys would win out.
UP (5/29) If the trailer for this movie doesn't make you smile- even just on the inside- you have no doul
Hangover (6/5) Quite possibly THE comedy I'm most excited for. (I've had a crush on Bradley Cooper since Alias & am pretty sure it's not gonna fade anytime soon.)
Moon (6/12 limited) I'd watch Sam Rockwell in almost anything...but preferably Charlie's Angels over and over and over and over and over again...
Transformers (6/24) I used to be a robot, gotta support the Autobots.
Public Enemies (7/1) Starring Johnny Depp & Christian Bale and directed by Michael Mann, there's no doubt I'm seeing this movie
Bruno (7/10)
Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince (7/15)
500 Days of Summer (7/17)
Funny People (7/31) Eric Bana and Leslie Mann are the main reasons why I want to catch this.
Julie & Julia (8/7)
District 9 (8/14) There's just something I find really intriguing about this film
Paper Heart (8/14)
Taking Woodstock 8/14
Inglorious Basterds (8/21) Tarantino + Pitt + WWII flick + gratuitous violence + Pitt's
ridiculous stache = me being there for a 12:00AM showing
The Boat That Rocked (8/28)
Flicks I'm still on the fence about
Land of the Lost (6/5) while I love Danny McBride and Anna Friel, I still have the iconic craptastic quality of the original show burned into my memory. Plus Will Ferrell already duped me into seeing him in "Bewitched" & there's only so many shitty "reimagings" I'm willing to pay to sit through.
Taking of Pelham 123 (6/15) I think it's the Travolta as villain factor that's not really pushing me to check this out.
Year One (6/19)
GI Joe (8/7)
Want to but will prob wait for DVD
How To Be (4/29) I love an endearing indie, especially if it's musically related, but I'm pretty sure this wasn't and won't be released in The States.
Away We Go (6/5 limited) The only reason this movie fell into this category is because it probably won't be released here, even though it shot for a week last summer in Morningside.
The Proposal (6/19) I love Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds but am trying to avoid romantic comedies
Cheri (6/26) Only because this probably won't be released anywhere near me
Ugly Truth (7/24) [See what I wrote about "The Proposal" and replace SB & RR wuth Gerard Butler] plus I'm not really a fan of Katherine Heigl

trailer trash redux - Brothers Bloom
I gave Brother’s Bloom a shout out last August when it was originally supposed to come out, but feel even more to now that it’s opening in limited release tomorrow and wide on the 29th. It’s written and directed by Rian Johnson who also did, the modern day film noir inspired Brick. I adore Adrien, Rachel and Mark so this film is high on my list of flicks to check out this summer. Peep the trailer [again] below, and hopefully it peeks your interest or you can watch the opening sequence of the movie thanks to Hulu.

trailer trash - G.I Joe : Rise of the Cobra
Everday after school when I was about 4 years old I'd sit in my mom's rooms and watched cartoons til my brains started to rot and one of my favorites was "GI Joe." I'm really hoping this movie doesn't suck, but I'm not too sure how I feel about this trailer since, I still haven't watched it sober (I saw it during the Super Bowl.) Christopher Eccleston is flippin awesome and I hope Sienna Miller does a bit more than just stand there and look hot, but I have to say my hopes are not high for this one.

oldies but goodies
So I finally got my disposable camera from this summer developed and I remembered why I hate using them, the picture quality is crap at best and you never know what you're gonna get til it's over and done with. well here are some pics from the Radiohead Show in May in West Palm, Kanye West at American Airlines Arena (as well as what the shows actually looked like,) nights out in the Grove and Lollapalooza.
Radiohead 5/5/08 Cruzan Ampitheatre

....And below is what the show ACTUALLY looked like

Out and about in The Grove

Local Troubadour Robby Hunter awaits his payment , a pitcher of Heineken, after playing for the masses at The Cuda
i hate when i make this face, but for some reason i can't stop myself. i guess Steve just brings the silliness out of me
the man, the myth the legend, the real life "Tony Starke" himself, Mr. Jon Lundberg...and the walking parable John Lee
i kinda love how this looks like it could be an outtake from "Alpha Dog"...but maybe that's just my opinion

I heart Miami
Even the homeless have it made in this town. I saw this bum outside my office today when I was leaving for lunch. When I returned an hour later he was still there and I had to take a photo.
